CHGASPA2 CHANGE ASP ATTRIBUTES 2 TAAASPC |
The Change ASP (Auxiliary Storage Pool) Attributes 2 command allows a
user with the special authorities *ALLOBJ and *SERVICE to change
either an ASP threshold and/or the Compression Recovery Policy.
DST/SST are the traditional methods to change the threshold. The
system command CHGASPA is the traditional method of changing the
Compression Recovery Policy.
Note that this tool requires the use of an API that was added in
V4R5. You must be at least on that release to use CHGASPA2.
A prompt override program exists so the typical command would be:
CHGASPA2 ASP(nn)
and press F4. The current values would be prompted for and the new
value may be keyed over. If the system ASP is prompted for, the
CPRRCVPCY value appears as *SAME and cannot be changed. The command
may also be entered as:
CHGASPA2 ASP(nn) THDPCT(xx) CPRRCVPCY(*zzz)
The API QSYASSDMO is used to change the threshold percentage. The
system ASP (ASP = 1) cannot be changed for the CPRRCVPCY parameter
(it must be *SAME).
CHGASPA2 escape messages you can monitor for
--------------------------------------------
TAA9891 The ASP number does not exist.
Escape messages from based on functions will be re-sent.
Command parameters *CMD
------------------
ASP The number of the ASP to be changed. Basic ASPs
must be a value between 1 and 32. If a device name
is requested, this parameter must be defaulted (a 0
value is passed).
Primary or secondary ASPs are known externally by
their name although a number between 33 and 255 is
assigned by the system. If you know the name of the
primary or secondary ASP, you should use the default
for this parameter and enter the name in the ASPDEV
parameter.
If the number of the primary or secondary ASP is
known, but the ASP device name is not known, a
number between 33 and 255 may be entered to retrieve
the information about the ASP. This allows the
device name of the ASP to be accessed if only the
number is known.
ASPDEV The ASP device name to retrieve. If an ASP number
is requested, this parameter must be blank.
THDPCT The threshold percent to be assigned. The default
is *SAME. It must be a value between 1 and 99.
CPRRCVPCY The Compression Recovery Policy to be assigned. The
default is *SAME.
If the system ASP (ASP = 1) is specified, the value
must be *SAME.
For a more complete understanding of the other
values, see the CHGASPA system command.
*OVERFLOW may be specified to cause any overflow
storage to be added to the system ASP immediately.
*RETRY may be be specified to cause an SRC to be
posted and the system waits for space to become
available. If space is not available in a
reasonable time, any overflow storage is added to
the system ASP.
*WAIT may be be specified to cause an SRC to be
posted and the system waits indefinitely for space
to become available.
