CHKARACDE CHECK AREA CODE TAAARAF |
The Check Area Code command provides a method of checking for a valid
area code. The TAA9891 escape message is sent if the area code is
invalid. An optional completion message is provided. Only the area
codes provided by the PRTARACDE tool are supported (includes US,
Canada, Caribbean, Samoa, etc).
A typical command would be:
CHKARACDE ARACDE(xxx)
If the area code is valid, the command completes normally. Since the
COMPMSG parameter defaults to *YES, a completion message would be
sent such as:
Area code 212 was found in NY. The time zone is Eastern.
Description = Manhattan, NY overlays 646/917
If the area code is invalid, TAA9891 is sent as an escape message.
