Use of ILE and OPM |
The tools continued to favor the OPM model until well into the first
decade of this century. This was based on performance tests conducted
in the late 1990's that showed no significant performance gains to be
had by moving to ILE as well as some program maintenance concerns.
Those concerns are now moot.
ILE RPG, with its free-format and ability to do static binding, is a
far more desirable programming language than OPM RPG. All new tools
will use ILE RPG and existing tools may be converted over time.
